Denver 2010 – The Schedule and Bio’s of Speakers

Denver 2010 is taking place this coming Friday and Saturday, June 11th and 12th at New Denver Church. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the UNconference will start at 7 p.m. Mountain Time.  In order to be a little more green, we are posting the schedule here on-line instead of printing it out on paper.  You can find the schedule for Denver 2010 below, followed by a short bio of each of the speakers.  This event is hosted by the Ecclesia Network. More details about the Denver 2010 can be found at this post and you can learn about Michael Gungor and Brad Corrigan, who are leading worship, at this post.  I look forward to seeing you in Denver.  Spread the word.  This conference is FREE.  We will also be living streaming Denver 2010.

SPEAKER BIO’S (In order of their speaking)

Alan Briggs is a pastor at Vanguard Church in Colorado Springs. His passion is to “equip the Saints for the work of ministry” & produce healthy multiplying leaders. He is the founder & director of the Ministry Apprentice Program (MAP) at Vanguard. Alan blogs & offers free leadership development resources at Saint Equipper.

Rob Merrill is the founding pastor of Ecclesia Stockton, a church plant in downtown Stockton, CA.  He is currently bi-vocational, learning what it means to grow a church and what it looks like to do after school teaching and grow 3rd graders and he isn’t quite sure which one is more difficult to master.  He spends his free time eating and drinking coffee at third places in the neighborhood while reading on his iPad Kindle and soaking in his community.

Norton Herbst is a pastor at New Denver Church and also serves as Senior Editor for Q: Ideas That Create a Better World. Prior to this, Norton worked at North Point Community Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and helped write the Starting Point curriculum and study notes for the Starting Point Bible. Norton, Janis, and their three children reside in Denver, Colorado.

Don Chesworth is a pastor and dream awakener at kairos la where he hopes to experience the kingdom of God transforming East Hollywood. Don was an IT Consultant for four years before receiving his M-Div from Princeton Seminary, and is now pursuing an MSMFT at Fuller Seminary.  Don has served as an urban minister in Baltimore, Camden, Jamaica, Chile, Korea, Peru, Argentina and now Los Angeles.  Don lives, works and prays in intentional community in his neighborhood in L.A.

Lena Giron lives in Hollywood with her four children, Elizabeth, Andrew, Meg, and Kyla.  She engages in the life and culture around her through songwriting and film, coaches artists and entrepreneurs, leads a book study and parenting group, and lives out her calling to church planting with a network of leaders called ViaCordis.

Andrew Arndt is the teaching pastor of Bloom Church, an artistic, missional, communal, Jesus-driven church located in the heart of Denver, Colorado.  After receiving his M. Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago in 2006, Andrew worked for 3 years as an associate pastor of outreach and spiritual formation at Sanctuary Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Andrew and his wife Mandi have three kids, Ethan, Gabe, and Isabella, with a fourth on the way in December.  The Arndts love church and quiet evenings at home.

Chris Hooper is the executive pastor of Open Door Fellowship, a small Denver church serving the poor, addicted, and disenfranchised. Chris has been working at Open Door for nine years. He received a Master’s degree from Denver Seminary in 2006.  He has two boys, ages six and four, and is still married to his high school sweetheart, Holly. Chris enjoys basketball, working on in the yard, and playing with his family.

Michael F. Sabo is the founder and president of Christian Leadership Institute (CLI), an alternative to traditional seminary. He earned a Ph.D. from Trinity International University (TIU) and is an adjunct faculty member at TIU and Denver Seminary. In addition to leading CLI, Michael serves local churches as a transitional pastor and enjoys being around the lost by playing racquetball and working on his restored car. Jason Salamun is the founding pastor of Project Church; a gospel-driven community committed to joining God in his mission in the world. His passion is to see as many people as possible live free by following Jesus. He describes himself as a recovering hypocrite who’s striving to keep it real and drops thoughts and shares ideas on his blog. Jason and his wife, Gwyn, have two children, Reece and Regan, and make their home in the nation’s best-kept secret, Rapid City, SD.

John Chandler is a husband, a father of three, and the pastor of Austin Mustard Seed, a church start-up in Austin. He helps pay the bills as a freelance web designer and writer. He maintains a blog on creative work at Creativityist, and one on theology and life at SomeStrangeIdeas. He is a graduate of Mars Hill Grad School and Hope International University, but he still thinks some of the most important theology he ever learned came from Dr. Seuss.

Jay Smith is the Cultural Architect at Convergence: A Creative Community of Faith, a church who’s mission is to serve the local Artist community and to explore how the Artist can be integrated in the Church. Jay is also a member of the DC based band, Middle Distance Runner as well as a music promoter and advocate for the DC music scene.

Joshua Swanson is an actor, voice over talent, writer, foodie, wine lover, etc. He’s accomplished a decent amount in his short time as a professional. As an actor he’s worked in major motion pictures, television movies, television shows, theater, and commercials. His latest film “Baggage” was shot in Chicago starring Cheryl Ladd and Barry Bostwick. As a voice talent Joshua has been very fortunate to successfully work in many different areas of the field including national commercial campaigns, video game and cartoon characters, and as an award winning audiobook narrator. In recent news Joshua is the narrating voice of the new television show Superfetch for Animal Planet airing every Saturday night! He blogs about his experiences at his website.
